About the CAA HSU Web Site

We want our web site to be easy for you to use, and easy for you to find the information you want. Here are some tips that may help. We welcome your feedback - just email: hsu@caa.govt.nz.

All links are blue. Links to PDF files (see below), and web sites external to the CAA, all open in a new tab or window for your convenience. When you have read the item and close the window, you will be back where you started.

PDF Files

The CAA HSU web site contains many official documents because we are the Government’s designated regulator for the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 when an aircraft is in operation.

In order to faithfully reproduce these documents on our web site, we convert them to PDF (Portable Document Format) files. These files show the documents accurately on-screen, and also print exactly as intended. You can use printing options such as "Fit to Printable Area", and also print on both sides of the paper.

The software to view PDF files is called Adobe Acrobat Reader, and is available for downloading free from the Adobe web site, www.adobe.com.

Acrobat Reader and PDF files also have a number of features to enhance accessibility. The view can be enlarged, and the software has a voice synthesizer that can read the text aloud for you.

Software versions change frequently, so we will not give step-by-step instructions for use here. Use the "Help" menu if required.

Difficulty Opening PDF Files

Sometimes a security or firewall setting can prevent PDF files from opening. Check these features in your browser settings, or the firewall installation on your computer. If on a network, contact your network administrator.

Google Chrome

Reports from users, and forums on the Internet, indicate that the browser, Google Chrome, can have problems opening PDF files. If you have issues refer to the Chrome Help page.
